About this event

This course is aimed at staff who are relatively new to pensions and those who have some experience, but want a better understanding of the LGPS.

The training material is detailed due to the complex nature of the LGPS. One of the intended outcomes is for delegates to understand all aspects of administering the Scheme.

When delivered online, this five day course will start at 9:30 each day with sessions ending between 12:00 – 13:30.

As an in person residential course the cost includes overnight accommodation and meals. The course runs from 6pm Monday night until 1pm Thursday.

  • Joining the LGPS
  • The CARE scheme
  • Final salary benefits
  • Breaks and additional contributions
  • Early leavers
  • Aggregations, transfer values and divorce
  • Retirements
  • Survivor benefits
  • Minimising and resolving disputes
  • Current and future LGPS developments.
